About TelaDoc
TelaDoc is the first and largest provider of telehealth medical consults in the United States, serving over 1.6 million members. Our physician network is also the largest and most highly credentialed in the industry today — with board-certified, licensed doctors nationwide.
Our history
Founded in 2002, TelaDoc was an early advocate and pioneer of telehealth. It was formed by physicians, professionals, engineers and business executives who recognized that the technology used to assess problems aboard a spacecraft or on the other side of the world can be utilized for patients living in the United States. This group of visionaries applied modern telecommunications technology to allow patients to resolve their routine medical issues over the phone. Telehealth is a valuable component of the healthcare mix that complements current PCP coverage by resolving routine medical issues at a fraction of the cost and time of visits to urgent care centers, emergency rooms, or doctors’ offices.
