Jason Gorevic
Chief Executive Officer, TelaDoc Medical Services
A prominent health care business executive, Gorevic became CEO of TelaDoc in 2009. During his career, he has pioneered the development of innovative healthcare services which evolved into mainstream offerings that simultaneously delivered meaningful value to customers and bottom-line business results.
Before joining TelaDoc, Gorevic worked in various capacities at WellPoint, Inc., including senior vice president and chief marketing and product officer where he was responsible for developing WellPoint's Growth Strategy to identify and prioritize opportunities for long term growth. In addition, he assumed the role of president for newly acquired Lumenos, Inc., and is credited with driving enterprise-wide adoption of its consumer-directed health plan, which subsequently became the company's fastest growing product. He also created and led the Innovation Incubator that conceptualized and implemented a partnership with Zagat Survey to enable consumers to rate their physicians, and acted as the company's spokesperson with top-tier media.
While at WellPoint, Jason ran a $7 billion P&L, where he consistently exceeded enrollment and financial targets. He was also responsible for a provider contracting team that managed approximately 200 hospitals and 80,000 physicians representing $6.5 billion of medical spend. From 2002 to 2005, Gorevic was a key member of Empire BlueCross BlueShield's leadership team that generated annual earnings per share growth of 15 to 20 percent resulting in a market cap growth of 300 percent from its 2002 IPO to the acquisition by WellPoint three years later.
Gorevic is a health care visionary with deep roots. While at Oxford Health Plans, he designed, built, and managed a first-of-its-kind telephone medical advice service staffed by Registered Nurses to ensure appropriate utilization of health care resources. This model has now become the industry standard.
Gorevic received a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a two-time winner of the WellPoint Pinnacle Award for outstanding leadership and, at age 31, was named one of the 2003 Crain's New York Business "40 Under 40" top executives.
Martin R Felsenthal
Partner, HLM Venture Partners
Martin R. Felsenthal is a Partner of HLM Venture Partners. Marty was previously a General Partner of Salix Ventures, where he focused on investments in health care services and health care information technology. Marty served on the boards of Vantage Oncology, US Renal Care, Ancillary Care Management, Vericare, AccentCare, Titan Health and Payerpath.
At Salix, Marty was involved in helping management found a number of new businesses through platform acquisitions, including Vantage and Vericare. He also recruited more than 25 executives to the portfolio companies with whom he worked.
He is currently a director of Aperio Technologies and Vericare Management and a board observer at Vantage Oncology. Marty also serves on the Board of the Northern California Chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. He received a BA from Princeton University and an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
James Outland
Managing Partner and Founder, New Capital Partners
Mr. Outland has over 18 years of private equity investment, mergers and acquisitions, business development, and sales and marketing leadership experience in both entrepreneurial business ventures and well-established corporations.
Mr. Outland began his career developing an entrepreneurial business within ProServ, Inc., a leader in the sports marketing industry subsequently acquired by SFX and later Clear Channel. He opened a West Coast office and later led the business development for ProServ athletes and properties in the Southeast.
Mr. Outland has also served in various key roles as an Officer for Complete Health Services and United Health Group responsible for sales and business development and as a principal at Momentum Health Services where he specialized in mergers & acquisitions. James has led numerous private equity investments and currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Prism Pointe Technologies in Atlanta, GA, Senior Whole Health in Boston, MA and Mobile Storage in Birmingham, AL. Mr. Outland also serves on the Boards of Comlet Technologies, Bridgeville Trailers and Awarix. In addition, Mr. Outland served as the CEO of Senior Whole Health during its first year of operations. James has been active in civic and charitable organizations having been involved with Junior Achievement, The Leukemia Society, the Birmingham Museum of Arts, and the Birmingham Venture Club where he recently served as 2005 president. He graduated from Southern Methodist University with a B.A. in Political Science and a B.F.A. in Advertising.
Thomas G McKinley
Partner, Cardinal Partners
Tom is the West Coast Representative for Cardinal Partners. Prior to joining Cardinal, Tom was Co-Founder and Co-Managing Partner of Partech International. Tom has over 25 years of investment experience with a track record of helping entrepreneurs create significant and successful enterprises. His investments include Ascend Communications (ASND acquired by Lucent Technologies), Automated Healthcare (acquired by McKesson), Medicode (acquired by United Healthcare) and VISICU (EICU acquired by Philips).
Tom has served on the boards of U.C. Berkeley's Entrepreneurs Forum, the World Venture Summit and the Western Association of Venture Capitalists (WAVC). He is an active member of the Health Management Academy (HMA) and an active supporter of the University of San Francisco's Entrepreneurship Program. As an alumnus, Tom maintains close ties with Stanford's Business School, as well as Harvard University, where he serves as class secretary and started the I3 Harvard College Innovation Challenge (undergraduate business plan competition).
Tom received an undergraduate degree in Economics from Harvard University, an MS in Accounting from New York University and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Samuel Havens, BBA, JD
Former Prudential Division President
Samuel Havens currently serves as a director and business development catalyst for several leading-edge healthcare technology and services companies. Previously, Mr. Havens served as President of Prudential Health Care, a national healthcare company with over $7 billion in revenue, where he was responsible for all health and dental operations.
While serving as President of Group Operations at Prudential, Mr. Havens led the company to recognition as the first national health plan network accredited by the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA). He designed and built the Prudential Research Center - a leader in the development of clinical outcome studies and consumer report cards - and created a joint venture with Rush Presbyterian Hospital to build a joint provider/insurer partnership in the Chicago marketplace. Prudential HealthCare grew to $7 billion of revenue and 16,000 employees in markets throughout the United States. Mr. Havens received his Bachelor's degree as well as a Juris Doctor degree from Temple University.
Arneek Multani
Principal, Trident Capital
Arneek Multani joined the TelaDoc Board in June 2008. He currently serves as a Principal at funding partner Trident. In this role, he focuses on business process outsourcing, healthcare services and transaction processing. Multani most recently worked in product management for the Network Storage Software Products Group at Sun Microsystems. Prior to working at Sun, Multani worked with McCown De Leeuw & Co., a private equity firm specializing in leveraged buyouts. There he focused on investing in the health and fitness industries. Before McCown De Leeuw, Multani worked in the Media & Telecommunications area of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Morgan Stanley & Co. Mr. Multani's focus at Trident is in the healthcare and outsourced services sectors. Mr. Multani serves on the Board of Directors of TelaDoc Medical Services.
Multani holds a B.S in Economics from the Wharton School of Business and a B.A.S. in Systems Engineering from the Moore School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was graduated summa cum laude. He also holds an M.B.A from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
John Reardon
Venture Partner, Trident Capital
Reardon is an experienced healthcare and technology executive who has co-founded or led several successful start-ups as well as led mature divisions of several large organizations. He is a Venture Partner of Fund VII with a focus on healthcare information technology at Trident Capital. Prior to Trident, Reardon was president and CEO of CliniComp International, an acute care clinical information system company. Previously, he was an operating partner with JP Morgan Partners, and in that role, held interim operating roles or active board roles with seven portfolio companies: fusionOne, Tidal Software, Narus, Determine Software, Above-All Software, Call Vision and NinthHouse Network. He also serves on the Board of Directors of E&C Medical Intelligence.
Before JPMP, Reardon was regional vice president of Strategic Planning and Business Development for the St. Joseph Health System in Northern California. In that role, he acquired or started several businesses including hospitals, home services, physician networks, and related administrative companies. During that time, he built the St. Joseph Health Foundation, a managed care administrator and practice management company for which he served as president.
Reardon was also the co-founder of Value Health Management, which was acquired by EDS in 1996, and Health Economics Corporation, which was acquired by Equifax in 1990.
