General Frequently Asked Questions

-
Members should call TelaDoc when they are suffering from acute, episodic, non-emergency medical issues. TelaDoc physicians also answer medical questions, assist in immunization planning, and inform patients when their illnesses require a visit to a PCP. TelaDoc is available 24/7, so members can call when their PCP is unavailable or unreachable.
-
TelaDoc physicians use telephone medical consults to diagnose a member’s non-urgent medical condition. The patient’s own detailed medical history is used during the consult. Diagnosing a patient’s medical condition is usually a collaborative process between the member and the doctor.
TelaDoc physicians know when they can treat members directly and when to refer the member to his/her primary care physician or to a specialist. If appropriate, the TelaDoc Rx Fulfillment Team will phone the script to the member’s pharmacy of choice. A quality medical consult has been delivered without the patient visiting a PCP or an emergency room.
-
TelaDoc physicians are board certified and licensed to practice medicine. They have been trained as primary care physicians, internists or urgent care doctors, and they average 14 years’ experience. All TelaDoc physicians go through a detailed credentialing process before they are certified to join the TelaDoc Physician Association.
-
During the registration process, members complete a Medical History Disclosure that serves as an electronic health record of the individual’s medical history and healthcare profile. The disclosure is similar to the information an individual provides during his or her first visit to a PCP, including past medical history, previous surgeries, chronic illnesses, cholesterol levels, medications or allergies.
-
