Here are some tips to help keep you and your family happy and healthy while traveling this summer. Plus, here is a video from Dr. Konstantina Papathomas with some additional precautions you should take before traveling.

Prepping for departure

    • Pack masks, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, prescriptions, bandages and sunscreens in an easily accessible bag.
    • Get to know your summer travel destination, including any COVID-19 restrictions.
    • When traveling this summer, bring your daily routine items, such as vitamins and medication, plus health insurance cards. If you are flying and checking luggage, bring those items in your carry-on.
    • Download the Teladoc mobile app so you can reach out if you have any health concerns, no matter where you are.1,2 Our doctors can diagnose and recommend treatments for a wide range of common summertime ailments, from sun-related conditions to insect stings, skin rashes and seasonal allergies.

Tips during the trip

      • Your exercise routine doesn’t have to go by the wayside while you are traveling this summer. Try some wall push-ups in your hotel room. Take advantage of local parks for walking or running.
      • Make hand sanitizer your summer travel best friend. Apply regularly, especially before and after touching shared objects like vending machines and keypads, and after using the bathroom if soap and water are not available.
      • Drink plenty of water and have at least one fresh and healthy meal every day while traveling this summer. Try to avoid binging on rich food, which can lead to poor sleep and mood swings.
